Sustainability Committee
The Sustainability Committee began after passing the Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Program resolution to be registered in the program. The Committee meets to discuss certain actions the Village could take to be more sustainable.
About Climate Smart Community Program Climate Smart Communities (CSC) is a New York State program that helps local governments take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate. The program offers technical assistance, grants, and recognition for municipal governments that are prioritizing climate action. The Village of Portville is a registered CSC community (as of April 21, 2023), and we are working towards certification! Certification will help the Village stand out in our region for sustainability as well as open the door for more grant opportunities. Task Force The Village’s CSC Task Force (the Sustainability Committee) consists of a group of diverse stakeholders including village residents, board members, and Portville students – all united by a common goal of making our community more sustainable. Coordinators Bob Fischer & Sarah Swinko (schedules meetings, keeps minutes, organizes tasks for committee members, and submits documents in the CSC Program.) |
